2026 Superintendent's Art Exhibit

Every year our school system sponsors the Superintendent's Art Exhibit, or SSVAE. Students in grades K-12 can enter. Artworks will anonymously be judged by a panel, and awards will be given by category and grade level at the SSVAE. Our school system will select 10 (K-6) and 10 (7-12) to represent our system at the State Superintendent's Show in Montgomery. The goal is to have every school represented at the County level. This is not an easy task for schools that may not have a full-time art teacher. The art teachers in SCC decided to "adopt" schools that may not have a visual arts teacher and help facilitate participation in the county-wide art exhibition. This year April Bishop of Moody High School will be working with MHS, VPN, MJHS and MIS. Students do not have to be in an art class to participate. Please look over the basic rules below.

If you have students that would like feedback on their artwork, they are welcome to email pictures to April Bishop. She will be more than happy to look at them. We would like all artwork to be submitted by November 4th.

Here are the basics:
-Each school can submit 10 artworks. There is a 2-piece maximum per student. A committee will choose which 10 pieces will represent MIS in the Exhibit.

-There are 2 categories: 1-drawing, painting, mixed media and 2-photography and digital art. (We would love to get more photography and digital art this year.)

-The artwork does not have to be created at school.

-We will need the artwork no later than November 4th. This gives Mrs. Bishop time to mat and prepare your students' artworks for the exhibit.

-We cannot send 10 pieces that were all from the same project/assignment.

-Copyrighted images are not allowed. (No characters like SpongeBob, Mickey Mouse, etc.) Please use original art only.

-Artwork needs to be 8x10, 9x12 or 12x18 (because of mat size)

-Mrs. Bishop will supply the 9x12 and 12x18 paper she would like the students to use.

-We cannot take stretched canvas.

-Fill up the page.  Do not put one tiny thing in the middle of the page with a lot of blank space surrounding it.

-If the student wants to submit photography or graphic design, then they need to email April.bishop@sccboe.org the full-size edited image, and she will be glad to print it for them.

-Please have the students print their name and homeroom teacher on the back right hand corner of their artwork.  It needs to be legible so that we can read it.
